Priest takes leave of absence for accidentally showing gay porn | The Raw Story

Martin McVeigh, the Northern Irish priest who accidentally displayed pictures of pornography on his memory stick to a group of parents, has taken a sabbatical from priesthood.

According to CNN, McVeigh asked his parish for a leave of absence after last month’s incident in Pomeroy, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. McVeigh released a statement Sunday, describing that he destroyed the memory stick.

“After the images were inadvertently shown, I immediately removed the memory stick from the laptop,” McVeigh said. “In my shock and upset and in my concern to ensure that the images would never be shown again, I destroyed it later that evening.”

“In the hope of bringing resolution and healing to the division and pain within the parish, I have taken the decision to ask Cardinal Brady to allow me to leave the parish of Pomeroy and to take sabbatical leave. The memory of this awful episode will remain with me for the rest of my life.”

    The Engine Burns Blue

This image shows a cutting-edge solar-electric propulsion thruster in development at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., that uses xenon ions for propulsion. An earlier version of this solar-electric propulsion engine has been flying on NASA's Dawn mission to the asteroid belt. This engine is being considered as part of the Asteroid Initiative, a proposal to robotically capture a small near-Earth asteroid and redirect it safely to a stable orbit in the Earth-moon system where astronauts can visit and explore it. This image was taken through a porthole in a vacuum chamber at JPL where the ion engine is being tested. Image credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech
