Science enables deaf woman to hear

Sarah Churman, 29, was born deaf. Until recently, she had never heard the sound of her own voice. But thanks to a hearing implant, Churman was finally given that ability.

Back in June, another touching video captured baby Jonathan who, after receiving a similar hearing implant, was able hear his mother’s voice for the first time.

Fuck, this one pissed me off. On Facebook, this video was circulating, and all the comments were to the tune of “God blessed her”, “It’s a miraculous”,”God is watching over”,”Praise Jesus” …. etc. I got so fucking heated up… I wanted to comment that science is to thank for this procedure. But alas, my fundy family kept my lips sealed.

    SpaceX Falcon 9 Launches

The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket soared into space from Space Launch Complex-40 on Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, carrying the Dragon capsule to orbit at 3:44 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. The launch is the company's second demonstration test flight for NASA's Commercial Orbital Transportation Services, or COTS, Program. During the flight, there will be a series of check-out procedures to test and prove Dragon's systems, including rendezvous and berthing with the International Space Station. If the capsule performs as planned, the cargo and experiments it is carrying will be transferred to the station. Image Credit: NASA/Alan Ault
