NASA repeats Comet Elenin fears are unfounded, but Christian pastor continues to warn people they must get saved
In the midst of the doomsday predictions about Comet Elenin that are peppering the Internet, MSNBC reports that the real doomsday faces the comet itself, which is disintegrating and quickly fading away. MSNBC reports,
Elenin is now nearly in an inferior solar conjunction, where it will be directly between Earth and the sun. During that time, we won’t be able to see it, due to the brightness of the sun. … [A]mateur astronomer from Australia, Ian Musgrave, says it is doubtful that it will be bright enough to see in the cameras from the sun-orbiting SOHO spacecraft. We will probably have to wait until October, when the comet moves away from the sun, for powerful Earth-based telescopes to find out if any of the comet survives.
Despite this news, fears of impending doom created by the comet persist — enough so that on Sunday, September 18, NASA’s Lunar Science Institute published a video of David Morrison, senior scientist at the NASA Astrobiology Institute, NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif., who explained that the Comet Elenin doomsday scenarios are not scientific and will not occur (link includes the video and a summary). The video was previously promoted by NASA last month, following a Q&A released by NASA that debunked the Comet Elenin end times hype and speculations that the comet will somehow create massive earthquakes.
The space agency’s assurances and appeals for scientific reason are unheeded as people continue to speculate that NASA is involved in some kind of conspiracy to hide earth’s impending doom, especially since it will be hosting an event in Denver on September 20-27, 2011.
The latest is that “the elite” — including President Obama — are headed to Denver when the comet will pass near earth so that they will be close to top secret survival bunkers allegedly located under the Denver Airport.
This speculation caught the attention of Christian doomsday preacher Paul Begley, who found it suspicious that the president would allegedly be going underground when Comet Elenin will pass between the earth and the sun, a time during the Old Testament Feast of Trumpets when there could “be potential earthquakes up to 12-15 on the Richter scale” and “massive tsunamis.” Begley cites an article published in the European Union Times titled Obama Ordered To Denver Bunker By US Military for a DEFCON 1 readiness alert drill scheduled for September 27 and warns his followers to accept Jesus Christ and get saved.
