Pretty Blonde Vicar Doubles Church attendance in UK
Reverend Stephanie Nadarajah, 29, described as a “foxy blonde vicar” has managed to revive the lagging interest of church members in Sunday church attendance.
Within six months of taking up the position of curate to the congregation at St Mary the Virgin Church in Caterham, Surrey, church attendance on Sundays has doubled from about 75 to 150.
The pretty blonde who has a “comely smile” with a degree in theology from Cambridge backing it said people often give a shocked look when she tells that she is the new curate. But she reasons,”If people look and say: ‘Goodness me, that’s not what I expected,’ and (then) listen to what I say, then that’s great.”
Stephanie who is married to a management consultant is spoken of approvingly by a member of her congregation, “…just what we need to blow out the cobwebs–a bit of feminine vibrancy.”
Another parishioner Andrew Spencer, 52, says enthusiastically, “It’s great to see an attractive young lady at the church.”
Stephanie had worked with the National Health Service and sacrificed a much higher salary at the NHS for her new job as curate. She says, however, that she is happier with her new job.
Andrew Spencer sums up the feelings of church members about their new pretty curate, “She is not just a pretty face thought–she is intelligent and a great listener.”
